At the heart of my approach is what I call a mediation mindset. Put simply, it is a way of working together that focuses on the win-win.
We start by identifying the big conflict that is standing in the way or keeping you feeling stuck. What are you tolerating? What is draining you? What are you having trouble articulating to others or to yourself? Usually the big conflict is propped up by a series of smaller and medium-sized challenges that also need to be addressed. We unpack these challenges and conflicts separately and also look at them holistically to create a nuanced map of what requires conflict-resolution and how to sequence our mediation-informed approach.
Then we imagine your Hollywood ending. Dreaming in big, bright terms isn’t about an unattainable fantasy; it’s about imagining the scenario that will bring you most joy, satisfaction, and peace of mind by addressing not only the substantive elements, but incorporating the process, principle, and psychological elements that lie beneath the surface. The big-picture goal helps us work backwards to zero in on the non-negotiable elements — what I like to call your “north stars.” Identifying these is critical to developing an actionable and strategic roadmap that will help you manage the obstacles that are within your control (and let go of the ones that aren’t), support you to have difficult but necessary conversations, and guide your decision-making process.
Whether it’s tailored leadership development training and skill-building, one-on-one coaching and professional development, business conflict management, or customized facilitation for group and team programming, a mediative mindset is an effective framework for achieving effective and gratifying resolutions to what once seemed like intractable problems, taking you from where you are today to where you want to be tomorrow.
